Responsibility starts where we can make a difference.
Every move requires energy and resources and generates emissions. That is why, at confern, we focus on the areas where we can have a direct influence: efficient transport planning, reducing unnecessary journeys, our vehicle fleet, our environmental management system and the materials we use. Rather than making general environmental claims, we focus on specific measures.
Together with our approximately 60 partner companies, we work to plan transports as efficiently as possible and reduce unnecessary empty runs. We continuously invest in modern moving vehicles and e-mobility. For our moves, we exclusively use FSC-certified cardboard boxes. confern has been certified according to ISO 14001 since 2010. Our environmental management system helps us systematically assess environmental impacts and continuously improve our environmental performance.

Additional commitment to climate action
Working with atmosfair since 2011.
In addition to our own measures, we have been supporting climate action projects through the non-profit climate protection organisation atmosfair since 2011.
Based on volume weight and distance travelled, the CO₂ emissions associated with our moving transports are calculated using the applicable calculation method.
Since the beginning of our cooperation, we have contributed more than €45,000 to supporting climate action projects through atmosfair. The corresponding calculated emissions amount to a total of more than two million kilograms of CO₂.
This climate funding is provided by confern. There are no additional costs for our customers.

Independently of your move with confern, you can support climate action projects through atmosfair with your own contribution. Project selection and processing are handled directly by atmosfair.

Avoiding and reducing emissions comes first.
Supporting climate action projects is not a substitute for avoiding and reducing emissions.
That is why we first focus on the areas we can influence ourselves: efficient transport planning, fewer empty runs, modern vehicle technology, e-mobility, systematic environmental management and the responsible use of materials.
We regard the additional funding of climate action projects through atmosfair as a complementary commitment. It does not mean that the emissions generated by an individual move are avoided or that the move becomes climate-neutral as a result.

What we do for the environment
Reducing empty runs wherever possible
One of the key advantages of our network is the cooperation between our approximately 60 confern partner companies. Through nationwide coordination, transport capacity can be used more efficiently and unnecessary empty runs can be reduced wherever possible. This not only saves journeys and resources, but can also help reduce transport-related emissions.
Environmental management according to ISO 14001
confern has been certified according to ISO 14001 since 2010. Our environmental management system provides a structured framework for identifying relevant environmental impacts, defining measures and continuously developing our environmental management.
Modern vehicles and e-mobility
We continuously invest in our vehicle fleet and in e-mobility. Emissions that can be avoided through more efficient technology or alternative drive systems do not need to be addressed by other means later on.
FSC-certified moving boxes
We also apply transparent standards to the materials we use. For our moves, we exclusively use FSC-certified cardboard boxes.
Support for climate action projects
In addition to the measures within our own sphere of influence, confern has been supporting climate action projects through atmosfair since 2011. We make a clear distinction between the emissions generated by our transport services and the additional funding of climate action measures: supporting external projects does not change the emissions actually generated by an individual move.

Can I move climate-neutrally with confern?
We do not describe our moves as “climate-neutral”.
Even with efficient planning and modern technology, moving currently generates emissions that cannot be completely avoided. Our approach is therefore to avoid and reduce emissions and resource consumption wherever we can have a direct influence. In addition, confern supports climate action projects through atmosfair. However, this support does not make an individual move climate-neutral.
What does confern do to reduce emissions from moving services?
One important area is our transport planning. By working together with our approximately 60 partner companies, we can coordinate transport capacity more efficiently and reduce unnecessary empty runs wherever possible. We also invest in modern vehicles and e-mobility and continuously develop our environmental management.
Why does confern work with atmosfair?
confern has been working with atmosfair since 2011. In addition to our own measures, we provide financial support for climate action projects through atmosfair. Since the beginning of our cooperation, confern has contributed more than €45,000 for this purpose.
What does ISO 14001 certification mean?
ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard for environmental management systems. confern has been certified according to ISO 14001 since 2010. Our environmental management system helps us systematically assess environmental impacts, define measures and continuously develop improvements.
What does “sustainable moving” mean to confern?
A move requires vehicles, energy, packing materials and other resources. We therefore do not understand “sustainable moving” as a promise of a completely environmentally or climate-neutral move. For us, acting responsibly means reducing avoidable environmental impacts, using transport capacity as efficiently as possible, continuously improving our environmental management and communicating transparently about our measures.
